Preparation

It has been about a week ago, my family and I went to Genting Highland for a short holiday. As a preparation, I had arranged to service the car and changed both front tires and brake pads as to minimize all the possibility of avoidable car breakdown.

Driving

We started driving from Johor Bahru at about 12.30 am as I planned to reach Genting at dusk. The NGV tank is full aka RM8 plus backup petrol RM100 (Waja full tank is about RM135). We plan to refill NGV at Kluang, Ayer Keroh and Sungai Besi. However, to my disappointment (my fault as do not do a proper homework), Kluang and Ayer Keroh NGV stations are closed after midnight. Thus, from Yong Peng onwards to Sungai Besi, I use petrol. Wasted some gas when exit from North-South Highway to Kluang station but got nothing.

Sungai Besi NGV station open 24 hours, and after fill up gas, the time already 4 am and we continue our way through Cheras, Ampang and Karak Highway. As climbing a few hilly road at Karak Highway, we knew already what to expect when climbing Genting Highland road.

Climbing Up

Not much traffic at 5 am in a morning, so we just take our time to climb up the hill. As my car is auto, I just set my gear to 3 and press the pedal as usual. The climbing was rather slow and steady. At some point of time, I just feels like my car is not moving at all. The minimum speed about 20kmh and maximum is about 50kmh. Maybe if I just floor the pedal, the speed would be ok, but I don’t want to push the engine too hard. I have a plenty of time and no need to rush. About half an hour later, we reach Theme Park Hotel parking lot.

Hotel Package

We booked under Dreamz Package which includes, Dreamz shows tickets, 25% discount on theme park tickets, a quad room, buffet breakfast & dinner, return skyway tickets and Gems of the World exhibition tickets.

Climbing Down

No need to step on the accelerator pedal, the gravity is enough already to move the car down. Only need to step on the brake slowly and precisely.

Driving Back

Fill up gas at Senawang NGV station Ayer Keroh and then non stop to Johor Bahru. The gas actually run out when we reach Simpang Rengam but as too lazy to que at Kluang station, I just continue driving with Petrol.

Total

KM covered : 880km

Petrol usage: RM100 (still got balance 1/4 when reach JB)

Gas usage: Average RM8 x 4 times = RM32

Toll: RM90+-

Conclusion

Not many NGV station open 24 hours. We can use NGV to climb Genting Highland. It is great to take a break from our hectic working life.
